I want to encourage everybody to go thrifting. You never know what you will find and the best thing is that everything is very cheap! I go thrifting once a week and sometimes even twice a week! Last Monday, since it was President's day there was a 50% off sale. I bought blouses for only 45 cents! It can be overwhelming in there, so what I usually do is make sure to calm down and take my time. I always go to the blouses section first and then move my way around. The one section I do avoid is pants. Also, you need to be open minded and take risks on certain items. I really hope that after seeing what I found, you will consider thrifting. Sure I still like to shop at Zara, Topshop, H&M and other stores but most of the time you will find similar items at the thrift store for a way cheaper price. Remember you will have to search through a lot of things, but be patient because you will find certain items that are so worth it. Make sure to bring hand sanitizer and always wash the clothes before wearing it. I have worn some of my thrifting finds in my previous posts and will continue to wear them in future posts. Please let me know if you want anymore tips or have any questions about thrifting. :) I recently join formspring, so feel free to add me. Username = seekvintage

ReplyDeleteThat's great! I love it when I find a new thrift store :)
DeleteHi Kay! Do you find you have to alter your thrift store purchases often? Are there chain locations that you recommend or do you prefer to shop in local shops? I've been meaning to try thrifting so thanks for your post :)
ReplyDeleteI don't have to alter my tops that I purchase but I do sometimes have to alter the skirts. If I want it to be shorter I will have to alter it. Also, I noticed that you are from the Midwest area. So am I. =) Some recommendations are if you are in Wisconsin to try Goodwill. If you are in Chicago area, try Village Discount Outlet. If you are in the St. Paul, MN area try Savers, Unique thrift store and Valu thrift store. You can also check out yelp.com. That's what I do. I read the reviews first and then go check out the store. Good luck and please post your findings so I can see. =)

I love shopping at thrift stores, I agree with this post. I typically find items I love for way cheaper. I've been on the look out for a denim jacket i can cut the sleeves and patch it:- )
ReplyDeleteI am planning to do the same thing with the jean jacket above! :) I bought it from the kids section so the sleeves are a little short so I am going to cut them off. Great minds think alike! :)
DeleteLove your stuffs :D
